ABOUT THE RIVERSIDE RESOLVE CENTER

Riverside Healthcare is a healthcare system that serves the Illinois counties of Kankakee, Iroquois, Will, and Grundy. The network’s main facility is Riverside Medical Center, a 312-bed hospital located 60 miles south of central Chicago. Alongside a full range of medical services, the hospital offers short-term inpatient mental health services and the Riverside Resolve Center, a unit dedicated to treating substance use disorder in adults and adolescents. The center offers a range of outpatient options for adults, and for adolescents, both residential and outpatient care. Riverside Medical Center also offers a specialized outpatient program for DUI offenders.

All services are available in Spanish as well as English.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, patients undergo an initial, no-cost assessment to help clinicians recommend an appropriate level of treatment. Adults who present symptoms of a dual diagnosis may be referred to a partial hospitalization program (PHP) that includes group therapy sessions, medication management, and support services for families. For adults struggling with problematic substance use alone, as opposed to dual diagnosis, there’s an intensive outpatient program (IOP), general outpatient care, and a continuing care program.

For adolescents ages 12 to 18 who are struggling with substance use disorder, Riverside Resolve Center offers residential treatment, an IOP, and general outpatient care. In addition, there are gender-specific inpatient options for adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are struggling with mental health disorders: the Bolder Program for boys and the Chrysalis Program for girls. During treatment, adolescents adhere to a structured schedule of individual, group, and family counseling sessions and receive on-site classroom instruction.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Of the three alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, one would not recommend the Riverside Resolve Center and the other two would strongly recommend it. The negative reviewer gave the facility one star for its holistic offerings, two stars for its treatment effectiveness, and three stars for its counseling options and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. “Id recommend looking for a different institution,” they wrote anonymously.

However, the other two reviewers each gave the facility maximum five-star ratings for its treatment effectiveness, family participation, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders. In addition, more than one reviewer praised the center’s group counseling. “Group counsel including visitation, nutrition, and medical care, were all good,” one alum wrote anonymously.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Of the two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, one would recommend the facility and the other would not. The reviewers gave the facility a two-star rating and a four-star rating for its family participation and ability to treat co-occurring disorders, and a two-star rating and a five-star rating for its counseling options. “Multiple diagnosis treatment and multidisciplinary treatment teams were a strength,” one reviewer wrote anonymously; however, the other wrote that the center lacked “qualified people” and that they had “nothing good to say” about the facility.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Riverside Healthcare had a 3.6-star average rating based on 56 reviews left on Glassdoor at the time of this writing — however, only three of these reviewers identified themselves as providers of mental healthcare. [1] These three reviewers gave the facility two three-star ratings and a five-star rating, with both of the three-star reviewers citing the possibility of encountering inadequately trained staff: “Training for the actual job is no where near enough,” one reviewer wrote, but the other added that even though the facility “requires minimal experience for entry level employees,” it “provides ample opportunities for staff to continue education and certification to remain relevant and excel in the medical field.” The five-star reviewer praised the team and the organization’s willingness to innovate.

FINANCING

There is currently no specific information available on pricing via the facility’s website. The Riverside Resolve Center accepts Medicaid and private insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale; in addition, funding is available for eligible clients. The five individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability gave it a 3.8-star average rating.
