ABOUT HOPE MINISTRIES ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAM
Located in South Bend, Ind., Hope Ministries Addiction Recovery Program is a Christian-based, residential treatment program designed for adult men, women, as well as mothers with children struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. The program primarily serves individuals who struggle with chronic unemployment and homelessness. The facility does not provide detoxification services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To form a customized treatment plan, Hope Ministries may perform a comprehensive substance abuse assessment and psychiatric evaluation to identify issues that may contribute to chemical dependency. To treat its clients, the facility blends Christian principles and practices, therapeutic counseling, education, 12-step immersion, and job readiness training. The average length of the treatment program is between 12 and 18 months.
A major component of Hope Ministries’ treatment for chemical dependency is the 12-step model of recovery. During residential treatment, clients may attend regular 12-step meetings, participate in Big Book studies, and perform associated “step work.” Clients also participate in pastoral counseling and group counseling sessions. Mental health counseling is offered through partnering agencies, and medication management may also be available to dual diagnosed clients.
According to Hope Ministries’ website, residents also participate in six-month series of classes that focus on Bible-based studies, which address developing spiritual health, forming healthy boundaries and relationships, the life of Christ, and addiction recovery. As a Christian-based program, treatment components may also include devotionals, church services, and spiritual counseling. Hope Ministries’ website states: “These classes further help residents understand and transform their unhealthy beliefs.”
To prepare clients for discharge and self-sufficiency, Hope Ministries Addiction Recovery Program emphasizes continued education and job readiness as important components to treatment. The facility provides an adult education program, which may include G.E.D. preparation and testing, post-secondary education, or vocational skills-training. The facility also helps with job-readiness training through mentoring and community partnerships to help clients obtain and maintain employment.
