Located eight miles east of Flowood, Miss., Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is a freestanding psychiatric hospital that offers residential and outpatient services for adults, adolescents, and children.

The facility’s website indicates that residential care is available for psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and suicidal ideation. Some modalities used are group therapy, leisure education, and recreational therapy. Although the website does not detail detox or residential services for those struggling with substance abuse, reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com indicate that both are available.
Clients step down to a partial-hospitalization program (PHP) after completing residential treatment. Aftercare sessions run Monday through Friday and participants must attend five groups each day. The program has a strong medical component, with psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring provided by a doctor.
After completing the PHP, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) comes next or may be utilized as a less intensive form of recovery for individuals struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders who cannot get away from home or work. It offers the same components with slightly less sessions (three per day). Clients attend group therapy sessions every weekday morning and may be submitted to random drug screens.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The single alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date indicated that she would recommend treatment here. Kim gave the facility four out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience, as well as for the counseling options and dual diagnosis treatment — but she gave just two stars for most other aspects of the facility’s treatment, adding: “I would reccommend this to people who are only looking for detox,” suggesting that longer-term counseling options are lacking.
Third-party review sites painted a mixed picture of this facility. On Facebook, the center had earned 3.6 out five stars based on 17 reviews at the time of this writing.[1] April wrote: “The staff is very friendly and helped us in every way possible.” But Kay posted: “I’ll be honest, I didn’t feel like I was receiving as much help as I expected going into it. It even kind of felt like the nurses didn’t care sometimes.”
On Google, the center had received an average rating of 1.8 out of five stars to date based on 17 reviews.[2] Alum Lisa’s comment echoed how many reviewers felt about the staff, writing: “Most of the staff act like they could care less. They are rude and some would even yell at patients.” Anna, who gave the facility three stars, praised the group therapy and some staff members, but added: “I did not like having my medicine mixed up… I felt so lonely, depressed, and alone the entire time.”
Some positive feedback was given by Google reviewer Baileigh who awarded three stars and wrote: “the weekend staff were really great!” added, “The short haired lady who worked as the daily week staff, however, was really rude. It was a nice place though.”

The reviewers gave an average of 4.2 out of five stars for the facility’s family participation and cleanliness, and four stars for its counseling options. In their comments, two reviewers used the word “friendly” to describe the staff, and one added: “Good Doctors, friendly staff members, and excellent nurses. Program is designed to treat the family as a whole entity not just the patient.”
Yet more than one reviewer mentioned the need for better transition procedures, one writing anonymously: “Need better discharge instructions.”
