ABOUT LRGHEALTHCARE – NATHAN BRODY CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY PROGRAM

LRGHealthcare is one of New Hampshire’s 32 private, non-profit healthcare providers. It operates two hospitals and 22 medical practices and programs in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Among the programs operated by the center is the Nathan Brody Chemical Dependency Program at Horizons Counseling Center, located in the small town of Gilford, outside of Laconia. The facility offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at LRGHealthcare combines medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with counseling services. Clients have access to both services in order to minimize withdrawal symptoms while undergoing counseling treatments. The facility uses Suboxone to minimize the discomfort of opioid withdrawal, placing it within the 25% of private facilities in the U.S. that utilizes Suboxone in treatment.

Along with MAT, treatment services primarily consist of individual and group counseling and educational services. Throughout treatment, clients must attend sober peer support meetings in the community, such as 12-Step, and provide signatures proving their attendance. Random drug screens and breathalyzer tests are conducted throughout the program.

For the first four to six weeks, clients must attend three three-hour sessions per week. Sessions are available on weekday mornings or afternoon/evenings. In phase two, clients attend one session per week for 12 weeks, on Friday evenings.

In addition to the program options provided, clients are also encouraged to seek outside treatment in the community. Clients can seek group counseling sessions in outside groups, which often serve as a continuing care option when clients complete IOP.
