Workshops may focus on general substance abuse education, trigger avoidance, anger management, emotional regulation, relapse prevention techniques, and improving coping skills. The center may also encourage clients to become involved in a community-based, peer-led support fellowship, such as 12-Step or SMART Recovery.
To treat co-occurring mental health concerns, Westwood Behavioral Health Center, Inc. may hold disorder-specific counseling and educational classes, as well as provide referrals for added psychiatric support. For example, the center may refer individuals to a psychiatrists to receive ongoing medication management.
