ABOUT LIFEWAY INTERNATIONAL
Located in Houston, Lifeway International is one of Texas’ 407 (83.4 percent) outpatient rehab centers. The center offers two treatment options, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP), each of which are centered around peer and family support for individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment is much the same for clients enrolled in PHP and IOP. Both adhere to a curriculum replete with group and family therapy, individual counseling, 12-Step yoga, which the center does not elaborate upon, and art and music therapy.
While PHP clients attend full, six-hour days of treatment Monday through Friday, IOP participants attend programming for three hours each day. In some cases, PHP clients may eventually “step-down” to IOP as a continuum of care.
Considering family interaction as “the key component to sobriety,” the center regularly holds social, recovery-oriented events for loved ones. These include holiday celebrations, community service projects, field trips, dances, and more. Continuing care plans guide clients for the first 18 months and may last up to three years following treatment, addressing both their immediate needs and long-term goals.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Treatment staff include a board-certified addiction medicine specialist, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), nursing staff, as well as professional addiction counselors and peer recovery support specialists. In Texas, 98 percent of all treatment facilities have higher education requirements for staff.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Although Best-rehabs.com had yet to receive feedback from this facility’s former clients or affiliated loved ones, four Google users generated a perfect five-star rating to date.[1] J.W. credited the facility with changing his sibling’s life, writing, “They are doing very well now,” and N.L. added, “They were instrumental in helping our family through a very tough time.”
Similarly, on the facility’s Facebook page, which it has the ability to monitor, 29 individuals gave an average rating of 4.9 out of five stars.[2] Loved one K.R. wrote: “Lifeway acquaints the family living through the ravages of addiction with the hope of living with addiction and recovery.” Another loved one, B.R., added: “If not for the Lifeway organization, peer groups, facilitators and families, my daughter would not have, so willing & eagerly, sought a lifestyle of sobriety & honesty.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
The sole Best-rehabs.com respondent to date, a staff member, awarded the center five stars for the effectiveness of treatment and referred to the counselors as “knowledgeable,” but the program itself as “costly.” Still, this individual gave additional perfect five-star ratings to the level of family participation, the center’s effectiveness in treating co-occurring disorders, and whether or not they would recommend the facility to others.
