ABOUT VETERANS AFFAIRS PUGET SOUND HEALTHCARE SYSTEM – AMERICAN LAKE DIVISION
Located just off American Lake in Tacoma, Washington, the American Lake division of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System provides comprehensive mental health services, including treatment for addictive behaviors, anxiety and depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Outpatient services are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The mental health treatment offered at VA Puget Sound Health Care System includes consultation, evaluation, and treatment for various mental and behavioral health issues. These may include addictive and aggressive behaviors, anxiety and depression, emotional management, PTSD, and relationship and vocational issues.
Additionally, the VA in American Lake offers MOVE!, a nationally recognized weight management program designed to support veterans in managing their weight and improving their overall health.

The leadership team at this VA center includes two registered nurses and a medical doctor.

FINANCING
The cost of treatment is not provided on the VA center’s website. However, the center accepts private health insurance. The VA states that they cannot bill Medicare directly but can bill Medicare supplemental health insurance for covered services.
