ABOUT THE HAVEN
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Tucson, Ariz., The Haven is a women’s only treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction. The Haven, whose mission statement is “recovery with respect,” offers residential, transitional housing, and outpatient services to women, mothers with children, and the homeless. Detox services are not offered on-site, but The Haven will help refer clients to an appropriate facility if necessary.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, the center combines 12-step principles with evidence-based methods to promote sustained recovery and address the mental, physical, and social issues of addiction. As a gender-specific treatment center, the inpatient program address issues unique to women in recovery through individual counseling, group counseling, and psycho-education classes.
Each resident receives an individualized treatment plan and a professional determination of clinical goals. Treatment approaches include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), integrative medicines, and 12-step meetings.
Residential treatment typically last 45 to 90 days.
Women are encouraged to bring their children into treatment. A 90-day aftercare program meets weekly, and transitional homes are available to both women and mothers with children for additional support and structure.
According to The Haven’s website, the center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program and an outpatient program. The outpatient program includes individual and group counseling, meetings with recovery coaches, educational groups, obtaining a sponsor, and treatment planning.
The 12-week Intensive Outpatient Program includes all standard outpatient services, abstinence monitoring, and nine hours a week of treatment.

The center’s website notes the staff-to-client ratio is 1:3. The treatment team includes certified counselors, master-level therapists, recovery coaches, and licensed clinical social workers.

The facility’s website indicates the44-bed facility is comprised of multiple residences to better serve the needs of its clients, including a facility for single women, five homes for mothers with small children, a home for women in the final phase of treatment, and a transitional home for graduates. The Haven is a non-smoking campus including e-cigarettes.
