TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center – Behavioral Health CHOICES begins with an admissions assessment by a psychiatrist. Clients must be 18 years old or older, have a stable medical condition, and be cleared for treatment by a psychiatrist. Clients’ treatment plans are overseen by a team of specialists that are able to facilitate multiple treatment methods simultaneously. Clients that are in need of immediate intervention are enrolled in the residential program which offers 24-hour per day monitoring and treatment management.
Treatment methods focus on rebuilding clients’ self-esteem while promoting the development of coping skills. Therapy sessions help clients identify problem behaviors through traditional therapies such as talk therapy. Many therapy sessions focus on identifying problem behaviors and applying specific techniques to improve these behaviors while striving to reach target goals.
Many clients use the various modes of treatment as a step-down process. Clients often begin in residential treatment and slowly transition to modes with less supervision and treatment time. Aftercare planning services help clients establish sober living routines while connecting with community resources.
Family participation is encouraged where possible. Visitation for clients in the residential program is allowed with few restrictions. Clients are encouraged to repair family relationships in order to have a support network after treatment. Treatment planning can also help clients coordinate after-treatment sources of support for family development.
