ABOUT CYNTHIA DAY FAMILY CENTER

Located in Nashua, N.H., the Cynthia Day Family Center is a part of the large nonprofit organization Keystone Hall, which provides access to affordable addiction recovery services for adults, adolescents, and families. The Cynthia Day Family Center offers residential treatment for pregnant women and mothers who are struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The center’s services are appropriate for pregnant woman who use IV drugs, as well as women who are recently transitioning back into the community after spending time in the criminal justice system. The center also employs bilingual staff members.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Prospective clients must be 18 years old and complete a lengthy questionnaire about their life and recovery efforts to determine if the residential program is appropriate for their needs and current situation.

Cynthia Day Family Center utilizes a holistic, family-centered approach in which clients live with their children in an on-site residential center with 24-hour supervision. Most clients remain in treatment for six months. Programming includes individual and group counseling, parenting education, case management services, participation in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, and life skills education. Referrals for additional services are provided as needed.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Cynthia Day Family Center treatment team includes case managers, transportation staff, therapists, and group counselors. Some staff members are bilingual.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

According to the facility’s website, clients of the Cynthia Day Family Center live with their children in a secure, home-like environment while they undergo substance abuse treatment. Each mother can live with up to two children that are under 12 years of age. Clients typically live on-site for six months, though pregnant clients can stay in treatment until their babies are 12 months old. Non-custodial children are allowed to visit, and reunification planning in association with the Division of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is available. Transportation to off-site 12-step meetings is provided.

Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni. On Yelp, the two individuals who provided reviews of the Cynthia Day Family Center shared opposing perspectives. Jessica gave the facility four out of five stars and praised the individual attention given to each client. “The program work’s with you individually to meet your needs and assist you to create and achieve goals, sobriety, and stability. You will graduate this program with SO much more than what you walked in with,” she wrote. However, Judi gave the facility just one star and expressed disappointment in the program’s family involvement and billing practices.

The one loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing noted that they would recommend the Cynthia Day Family Center to others, but submitted mixed ratings in evaluated categories. They provided the quality of the center’s addiction treatment with four out of five stars, but gave the center’s counseling options just two stars. This respondent also rated both the center’s accommodations and meals with four stars, but gave the program’s leisure options and holistic offerings two stars. “It works,” they told Best-rehabs.com.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, Keystone Hall accepts most private health insurance plans. Fees are based on a sliding scale, but residential programming is priced at $15,400 for one month. However, no individual is denied services based on their inability to pay.
