ABOUT LRGHEALTHCARE – NATHAN BRODY CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY PROGRAM
LRGHealthcare is a prominent healthcare provider in New Hampshire, operating as one of the state’s 32 private, non-profit healthcare organizations. With two hospitals and 22 medical practices and programs, LRGHealthcare serves the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. One of the programs offered by the center is the Nathan Brody Chemical Dependency Program, located at Horizons Counseling Center in the serene town of Gilford, just outside of Laconia. This facility provides an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
At LRGHealthcare, the treatment process integrates medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with counseling services. This comprehensive approach addresses withdrawal symptoms while engaging clients in therapy sessions. The facility stands out as one of the few private facilities in the U.S. that administers Suboxone, a medication that helps alleviate the discomfort of opioid withdrawal.
The treatment services mainly consist of individual and group counseling as well as educational programs. Throughout their treatment, clients are required to participate in sober peer support meetings in the community, such as 12-Step meetings, and provide proof of attendance. Regular random drug screens and breathalyzer tests are conducted during the program.
During the initial four to six weeks, clients are expected to attend three three-hour sessions per week, available either in the morning or the afternoon/evening. In the second phase of treatment, clients attend one session per week, lasting 12 weeks, on Friday evenings.
In addition to the provided program options, clients are encouraged to seek supplementary treatment in the community. Group counseling sessions offered by external organizations often serve as a continuing care option after completing the IOP.
