ABOUT CARING SERVICES, INC.

Located in High Point, N.C., Caring Services, Inc. is dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by addiction. This agency, which is among 194 private nonprofit substance abuse treatment facilities in the state, offers outpatient programs, transitional housing, and family education. It also provides housing services for veterans who are homeless with a substance use disorder.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To be eligible for treatment, prospective clients must adhere to basic admissions criteria: a primary substance abuse disorder, medically stable, and physically and emotionally willing to achieve self-sufficiency.

Following an initial assessment, clients generally participate in the intensive outpatient program (IOP) or standard outpatient program (OP). IOP clients attend three to five sessions per week, which are held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. IOP clients are encouraged to attend programming daily during the first three weeks of treatment.

Sessions include individual and family counseling, as well as guidance in relapse prevention and relevant life skills, which are considered essential for successful independent living. IOP clients typically stay in treatment from nine to 12 weeks.

For those seeking treatment while remaining fully involved in their work and home life, the OP may be the more suitable option. Counselors use various therapy techniques, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and anger management. Clients may stay in the OP for up to one year.

To help homeless veterans receive substance abuse treatment and secure housing, the facility works with the Veteran’s Administration. The Vet Safety Net is a program that lasts six months to one year.
