ABOUT SAGEBRUSH – GREAT FALLS
Sagebrush operates multiple private drug and alcohol rehab facilities throughout northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The small program in Great Falls, Va., provides residential and outpatient (OP) treatment. Detox services aimed at alleviating withdrawal symptoms are offered. Dual diagnosis treatment is available.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients requiring detox at the beginning of their rehab may receive holistic support at Sagebrush in Great Falls. However, if medically monitored detox is necessary, the staff will assist clients in accessing that at another facility and then in transferring to Sagebrush for continued rehab.
During a minimum stay of 30 days, clients work with therapists to heal through a broad array of traditional, experiential, and alternative treatment modalities. Counselors are available for one-on-one sessions, according to the facility’s website, and clients also attend groups addressing such topics as gender-specific issues, trauma, relationships, and communication.
In combination with 12-step programming, holistic treatment options include art and music therapy, nutritional counseling, hypnosis, mindfulness, yoga, sound therapy, herbal medicine, and spiritual counseling.
Families are encouraged to participate in the recovery process, and multi-family education and support groups as well as visitation hours are offered. Clients begin planning for aftercare early in their stay, which prioritizes developing support systems and may incorporate recovery coaching.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Many of the master’s level therapists and licensed addiction counselors on staff are themselves in recovery, according to the facility’s website. Staff includes a Ph.D.-level naturopathic doctor.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Up to eight clients at a time stay in private rooms. Photos of the Great Falls facility depict a large, spacious house, comfortable furnishings, and a scenic pond and garden. Clients may not bring electronic devices, and smoking is limited to outside areas during specified times. The executive chef can accommodate special dietary needs for meals.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Two alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date were split in their reactions to Sagebrush. While alum S.G. rated it a perfect five stars in every category, alum C.M. rated its treatment effectiveness only one star and wrote: “Make sure you ask about their treatment. They claim to provide holistic practice but there was no acupuncture and the medical director was not helpful at all.”
CiteHealth reviews, however, reveal positive trends in alumni perspectives. 25 reviewers to date rated the facility an average 4.16 out of five stars, with five negative reviews and 20 positive. More than 25 percent described Sagebrush as life-saving or positively life-changing.
Positive reviews praised the variety of treatment options and compassionate therapists. Mentioning both cognitive behavioral and exercise therapy, one alum wrote: “I appreciate the balanced approach I found.” Another praised a “perfect mix of options” and also wrote that they “felt safe and comfortable.”
Negative reviews complained about staff, accommodations, and financial issues. Two reviewers reported problems with the facility’s overemphasis on money as well as a lack of respect from staff members. A third alum acknowledged the high cost of treatment but noted that it was worth it because they had achieved “the longest amount of sobriety I’ve had since I started using 25 years ago.”
On Yelp to date, one reviewer rated Sagebrush in Great Falls only one out of five stars, but eight unrecommended reviewers all rated the facility five stars. Positive Yelp and CiteHealth reviews cited the family and aftercare programs as strengths.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Four loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com to date had positive reactions to Sagebrush. All four rated its holistic treatment offerings five stars, and cleanliness and family participation received ratings of four and five stars. However, opinions about the facility’s costs were mixed. Loved one B.L. wrote that treatment was “Very Expensive,” though two others rated the facility’s affordability four and five stars.
Two loved ones’ positive Yelp reviews highlighted the program’s “very unique approaches” and staff’s proactive, team approach as strengths. One warned that, in their experience, Sagebrush did not provide adequate detox services for alcohol addiction.
FINANCING
Sagebrush accepts several insurance coverage plans including Aetna, ValueOptions, PHCS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Humana.
