ABOUT DELTA MEDICAL CENTER
Delta Medical Center, located in Memphis, Tenn., is a facility that provides residential care, partial hospitalization (PHP), and outpatient care to men and women over the age of 17 seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Detox is available on site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Delta Medical Center begins with a series of medical and psychiatric evaluations that inform their individualized treatment plan. If detox is needed, clients will undergo a medically monitored detox.
Treatment consists of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), family sessions, nutritional and wellness counseling, therapeutic and recreational activities, and spiritual guidance. Group therapy forms the primary modality of treatment.
In addition to counseling, clients also participate in educational activities. Clients are taught about addiction and coping skills. These skills form the basis of each client’s aftercare practices.
Clients are also involved in recreational and spiritual guidance activities. Spiritual leaders are available to help clients address their spiritual concerns in a way that is conducive to treatment. A range of recreational activities is available to promote habits development and physical rehabilitation.
Family participation is encouraged throughout treatment. Clients have access to family members on a regular basis. Family members are also encouraged to participate in counseling sessions to rebuild family dynamics.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team at Delta Medical Center is comprised of nurses, physicians, and counselors, as well as specialized substance abuse rehab staff members.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Delta Medical Center does not provide information about the residential facility. As Delta is a hospital, potential clients can expect an environment that’s clinical in nature. Seven alumni, loved ones, and staff members surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave Delta’s accommodations medium to low ratings, with an average rating of 1.4 out of five stars. One anonymous family member told Best-rehabs.com that Delta had a “very depressing atmosphere.”
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The three alumni surveys conducted by Best-rehabs.com to date about Delta Medical Center were largely negative. Two respondents rated the treatment effectiveness with one and three out of five stars respectively, its holistic treatment offerings just one star each, and counseling options two stars each.
Complaints focused mainly on the accommodations and ineffectiveness of treatment. Alum T.H. felt that the Suboxone treatment was one of the facility’s strengths, but wrote: “(They) leave you ill prepared for the real world after treatment Over rx meds that you don’t need and under rx the ones you do meed.” Alum W.R. was also disappointed with their treatment and wrote: “Poor staff, no help with recovery, very mean to me… I checked out after four days, learned nothing…”
On Google, 47 reviewers to date rated the Delta Med Center as a whole an average two out of five stars, with ten positive reviews, five mixed, and 32 negative. [1] Reviewers mostly complained of poor treatment from staff, misdiagnoses, and poor accommodations. Alum Iris, writing specifically about the behavioral health clinic, wrote that, although there were a few compassionate staff members, “So much verbal abuse to patients and overall disorganization. Patient privacy/confidentially is not remotely a concern. So many incompetent therapists. They treat patients like they ARE their sicknesses and nothing more.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
